#5: Selma Hacker, Selma Diamond (Then)
Selma Diamond played bailiff Selma Hacker in the first two seasons of Night Court. Known for her raspy voice and sharp humor, she brought a no-nonsense presence to the courtroom. Diamond was already an accomplished comedy writer, having worked on Caesar’s Hour and written for Jack Paar and Sid Caesar.

Her deadpan delivery and biting one-liners made Selma a standout character despite her limited screen time. She was a perfect foil for Judge Stone’s whimsy and Dan’s sleaze, and her unique voice became one of the show’s early trademarks.
