#10: Sissy Spacek
Sissy Spacek defined the ’70s outsider heroine with films like Carrie and Badlands. Rather than chasing glamour, she leaned into unusual, character-driven roles, often alongside director Terrence Malick. Married to production designer Jack Fisk, she built a life that felt grounded, even as her career quietly soared.

Sissy’s appearance was famously understated. With minimal makeup, her fair skin, wide-set eyes, and delicate features gave her an almost fragile, natural look. She didn’t rely on glam at all—in fact, her simplicity became her strength, making her feel real, human, and completely believable on and off screen.
