#12: Linda Ronstadt
Linda Ronstadt emerged in the late 1960s as one of the most exciting new voices in American music. Moving between folk, country, and rock, she fronted the Stone Poneys and scored a hit with “Different Drum.” Her clear, powerful voice and cool California style made her feel fresh and effortless.

Her personal life quickly became part of the story. Linda moved through the LA music scene, dating fellow musicians and industry figures, and absorbing every influence around her. Independent and intensely focused on her craft, she resisted being boxed into one sound, already hinting at the massive career ahead.
