#27: Replacing Two Breakout Characters Changed the Show’s DNA
Losing Diane Ladd after season one and Polly Holliday in 1980 meant Alice had to rebuild its chemistry twice. Belle’s dreamer energy and Flo’s razor-sharp sass weren’t easy ingredients to swap out, even with strong additions like Celia Weston and later Martha Raye.
