#38: Humanities, General
Humanities, general, attracts students who enjoy literature, history, philosophy, art, culture, and big questions about human life. It can feel like a thoughtful, well-rounded major for someone who wants to write well, think deeply, and understand the world beyond a narrow job-training lens. That promise can be genuinely appealing.

Regret tends to appear when graduates realize the job market does not always reward broad intellectual training right away. The Federal Reserve’s survey data placed humanities and arts among the highest-regret fields, which reflects a real problem: the skills may be valuable, but the degree often needs a stronger career plan attached to it.
