#58: Low Ceilings
Low ceilings can make a room feel smaller than it is. Basement rooms, dropped ceilings, older additions, or cramped upstairs spaces may reduce the feeling of usable square footage, even when the home technically has plenty of room.

You may not be able to raise the ceiling, but you can make the space feel lighter. Use low-profile fixtures, pale paint, vertical lines, fewer bulky pieces, and good lighting. Buyers should measure carefully and decide whether the space feels comfortable for everyday use.
