#4: Philosophy
Philosophy attracts students who like big questions about truth, ethics, knowledge, politics, language, and the meaning of life. Many choose it because they enjoy debate, careful reasoning, and challenging assumptions. They may imagine going into law, academia, writing, public policy, consulting, or any career that rewards sharp thinking.

The regret usually shows up early. Philosophy majors can do well long-term, especially if they pair the degree with law school, business, tech, or graduate training, but the first job search can be confusing. Employers may respect the thinking skills, yet still ask what practical experience the graduate brings.
